Days 11 and 12
Today we went to the capital, Santo Domingo, to visit a friend of Marien's. Santana is a former inmate of the prison on Curaçao. He has been given a new life in the Dominican Republic. He told us his testimony. In 2008 he was having a very hard time; he had come to faith in prison and wanted to do nothing but good things and live to the glory of God. But after he got out of prison on Curaçao he had no prospects. At that time Marien prophesied over him that God would give him a new life, and that blessing would rest on his family, his house and his business. He wrote this on a piece of paper and hung it on the wall.
Every time he walked past it he thanked God for it, proclaiming that it would happen as God had told him through the prophecy. You can read about this in Habakkuk 2:2-3, where it says: 'Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie'.
Santana showed us the paper and testified that God had indeed done this in his life. He has a family, a growing little business and an idyllic spot in the middle of the big city where it is quiet and the birds sing, and everything keeps growing steadily over the years. I, Marjan, have now been coming here three years in a row, and it is truly remarkable how much and how quickly everything visibly grows and becomes more beautiful, how the business grows and how much blessing rests on the family and the business. They told us that they give, give and give, above all to the poor on the street, and that God keeps giving them more and they are richly blessed in everything. He is also a worship leader in his church and supports the pastor wherever needed.
We were also able to pray for both of them. His wife had a lot of headaches; her shoulders and back turned out to be crooked, which straightened immediately after prayer, and the complaints disappeared. Santana might also need an operation for a hernia in his abdomen, and we prayed for that too. So once again it was a special experience we could share together, seeing how great God is and how He gives His blessings in small things and big.
