Mission trip Hyderabad - Tiruchirappalli - Chennai 2026

A team to India

On 27 November we leave for India with a team of five people. Our journey begins in Hyderabad, where we are guests of pastor Paul Prabhu. Remarkable work is being done through his ministry. Alongside a church, there is a care home for the elderly, a children's home, a health programme and various projects for people living in poverty. After a few days we travel on to Tiruchirappalli, where we visit Esther John. Much practical work is also done through her ministry, including a children's home, care for the elderly and work among Gypsy communities. From there we travel on to Chennai, formerly known as Madras. Here we are guests of pastor Prabha Vasuki of GATE Ministry. Through this ministry, work is done among 22 Gypsy communities.

Water for the Gypsy communities

One of the things that touches us deeply is that many of these families live without running water. What is so ordinary for us — turning on a tap and having clean water — is by no means ordinary there. That is why, during this trip, we want not only to come and speak and pray, but also to leave behind something that makes a lasting difference.

We want to have water wells drilled for the Gypsy communities that have no access to running water.

A water well means much more than water alone. It means families gain access to water closer to home for drinking, cooking, washing and daily care. It can practically help an entire community and improve living conditions. That is why we want to stand alongside these families. We want to listen to their stories, share the Gospel, pray for them, hand out food and Bibles, and offer practical help wherever possible.

We do not want to only tell them that God loves them — we want to make His love visible and tangible.

In addition, we will be working with pastor Simon Pieter and Bishop James Pandian. We will teach at the Bible school and speak and serve in various churches.

Marjan is staying for three months

When we return to the Netherlands on 13 December, Marjan will stay behind in the Chennai region, and she may also spend some time in Sri Lanka. During December, January and February she will continue the work among the 22 Gypsy communities. This allows time to build relationships further, visit families again and continue supporting the work begun during the group trip. During this period you could also accompany Marjan for a week, a few weeks or a longer period and help practically among the Gypsy communities. Perhaps missions have been on your heart for a long time, but you never knew how to take a first step. Then this could be such an opportunity. If you would like more information, please contact us.
