At Father’s Table

I mainly knew God as a distant Father, strict but just. To me, love was something you had to earn. When I read At Father’s Table, something broke open in me. The stories of God’s provision and supernatural encounters showed me that He truly is a loving Father who longs for relationship. One evening, after reading the chapter ‘Acceptance’, I said out loud for the first time: ‘Father, I want to sit at Your table again.’ I felt His peace literally in my room. Since then I no longer pray out of habit, but out of connection.

I grew up in church, but my faith was mostly based on rules. At Father’s Table changed that completely. The way the book speaks about the nearness of God as an invitation, not a command, meant I dared to see Him as Father for the first time. Now I start every day with the words: ‘Father, here I am, may I sit at Your table again?’ My life is simpler, quieter, fuller of peace.

After reading and proofreading the book At Father’s Table, my faith changed completely. It was religious and passive. After the invitation to sit at the Father’s table, new life was breathed into me. No longer a distant God, but very close. Where I used to pray out of habit, I now talk with Him like a beloved Father. At Father’s Table taught me that I do not have to strive for God’s love, I get to live from it.
