A beautiful encounter
On Thursday morning we set off towards the border with Haiti. We had a meeting there with Apostle Eli and his team. During his previous visit to the Dominican Republic, Marien had met him high up in the mountains, where he turned out to be on a forty-day fast.
It was a special encounter with a humble man with a great vision, in a simple, open, covered place in the middle of a meadow.
The sparks flew as we greeted each other, and we immediately noticed that God's presence was strong and that they lived in expectation of what God was going to do. This man and his co-workers radiated a great deal of love. With us included there turned out to be 12 men, which for them pointed prophetically to God's plan with this church. We prophesied over one another, and several Bible verses confirmed these words, with which we could encourage these dear brothers. They have a car and a lorry covered in Bible texts, which they drive around the area. We knelt and prayed together. Marien acted out prophetically what he meant and climbed over the barbed wire, but sank up to his ankles in the mud. A quiet young man silently took his shoes and a little later gave them back to Marien looking as good as new. There was also a prophecy about a policeman who will fulfil a coordinating role in God's plan, after which he spontaneously gave his cap to Marien. Wout felt it on his heart to give his shoes to the humble young man who had polished Marien's shoes. He gave them with the message that this was symbolic of the shoes of readiness to bring the gospel, and that he would go and speak of the greatness of God. We said goodbye and went back to Annelies and Yvonne, who were enjoying a relaxed morning at the compound, guarded by Pedro's son Immanuel and the watchdogs.
In the evening a service had been organised about prophecy and God's supernatural power, in which we saw God move mightily. Marien had a girl make a drawing, from which a prophecy came; Annelies performed the mime piece 'Watch the Lamb'; and Wout gave some teaching as an introduction to Marien's sermon on walking in the supernatural.
Through words of wisdom and knowledge God pointed people out, and He confirmed it with the miracles that followed. Wout, for instance, suddenly had a deaf right ear, and after he held his nose and blew so that it popped open again, he suddenly realised there might be someone in the hall with a deaf right ear, because Marien had just taught that God sometimes works that way... Wout asked God whether it was a man or a woman, but his eye fell on a poster on the wall, from which the colour mint green stood out. There was indeed a woman in the hall wearing a mint green shirt.....but he doubted whether it would be her.... What happened next was funny, because that very woman spontaneously came forward and pointed at her right ear. When Wout told what he had experienced, Marien said that this woman, as a prophetic act, should also blow with her nose pinched. Of course she was healed of the deafness in her right ear, because through this word of knowledge God had revealed what was wrong with this woman, and we could act in faith. The following healings also took place through words of knowledge: back pain, eye problems, airways and emotional healing.
God is faithful, and He encouraged all of us through the many things that had happened. We went home satisfied after blessing the pastor and his wife.
